About

You set up a community space, posted a few times, and then... nothing happened. That's not a you problem. Most platforms are built to hold your attention, not to help you build something that works.

This is Clocktower Advisors' outpost here on Skyler — a place to get real help running the community you've already built, not another feed to babysit.

Who this is for

Small business owners, coaches, subject matter experts, and anyone else running an online community, conference, or member organization without a marketing department behind them.

What you'll get here

  • Straight talk on running the community you've got — engagement design, retention, content cadence, none of the "just post more" advice
  • How Clocktower approaches community work for clients like Truth Initiative and Greenpeace, scaled down to solo-operator size
  • A space built on Skyler's own bet: your members are yours, not an algorithm's inventory

I run Clocktower Advisors, a community strategy consultancy. I'm not going to pretend this space is neutral — I'm here because I think Skyler's approach to member ownership is worth building on, and because some of you could use the help. What's the biggest thing standing between you and a community that actually works?

Rules & Guidelines

A few ground rules, kept light on purpose:

1. Be a real person here — no bots, no fake accounts, no lurking just to pitch.
2. Self-promotion is fine in the right spot; wall-to-wall selling isn't. Ask before dropping a pitch in someone else's thread.
3. Disagree openly, argue in good faith. Attack ideas, not people — that's the one rule that gets enforced without a warning.
4. Credit what you didn't make. Don't repost someone's story or work as your own.
5. If something here isn't working, say so. Feedback beats silence.

That's it for now — this list grows only if we actually need it to.
