State taxes on military retired pay aren’t the same everywhere, and your “home of record” doesn’t automatically control it. In most cases, what matters is your state of legal residence/domicile.

Some states:
• Don’t tax military retired pay at all
• Offer partial exemptions
• Tax it like regular income
