A Season of Reflections
We are entering the autumn (fall) season...Colder weather. Pumpkin patches. Apple Picking. That is exciting!
And today, I am in a season of reflections. Right now, I am fixated on five 4-word phrases that have shaken my life recently.
The battle is His.
Take off your sandals.
You are not alone.
Serve God, not money.
Find power in prayer.
As I write these words, I am drawn to the meaning and transpired events behind each of the phrases.
The first is The battle is His. Friends, whatever you are facing in this life, know that the battle is not yours. You still need to show up in the middle of whatever you are going through because your character is being refined. The battle that I am currently facing is not mine. I struggled the last several months with self-worth. I believed that I wasn't valuable. It turns out that is a lie that I was willing to accept as truth. God does not believe that about me. I have turned this over to Him because I know this is some serious spiritual warfare.
The second is Take off your sandals. Our church is doing a series in Joshua with the overarching theme: bravery. As Joshua is confronted by the commander of the Lord's army he hears the words "take off your sandals. Where you are standing is holy ground." I recently had a conversation with another coach who spoke deliverance over me. Before we started, I took off my shoes (sandals) to allow the Lord to speak into my life. When we do this, we are acknowledging that there is something bigger than ourselves.
The third is You are not alone. I enjoy different communities that I am part of. People within these communities that love me, pray for me, sit with me, and talk about life with me. Just knowing that my family and friends care for me and are willing to walk alongside me on this journey as a full time coach is overwhelmingly beautiful. The enemy wants us to believe that we are alone, to continue in isolation. This is not truth. Whether you are trying to pay off debt, or you are struggling to find a job, or you are wondering where and when you next meal is going to happen, God sees you and cares for you. I will reiterate: you are not alone.
The fourth is Serve God, not money. As a financial coach, I sit with people who are trying to understand their behaviors and mindset with money. Many times we are faced with extreme challenges and daunting trials. When we give from a sacrificial heart and abundance mindset, money will flow in and out of our lives. I heard a powerful statement from someone just the other day who said, "income should be a natural outflow of impact." The kind of impact that I want to make isn't just financial. When I wake up and align my heart with God's and seek first His kingdom, He will make a path if I only trust in Him and not my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
The last is Find power in prayer. I recently posted on Facebook asking for prayer. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe when we lift up our requests to the Lord, He hears us. Sometimes He says YES, sometimes He says NO, and sometimes He says WAIT A LITTLE BIT. For me, I always want to jump to the YES! Even in the waiting, you can still continue to show up.
There is a reason why you woke up today. You are valuable. You are loved. You are cared for. If you don't think these things are true, then I would love to have a conversation with you. To demonstrate how much I care. Not to make you a client; simply to be a human being.
