Why I Chose Brushy Creek, Texas—and Why I’m Excited About What’s Ahead

When I made the decision to move from Wyoming to Texas, I wasn’t simply looking for a new house or a change of scenery. I was looking for a place where I could build a life, become part of a community, and feel excited about what the future might bring.

I found that in Brushy Creek.

Today, as a real estate professional serving this area, I have the opportunity to help other people discover many of the same things that attracted me here: strong communities, access to excellent schools, beautiful outdoor spaces, proximity to major employment centers, and an incredible amount of growth happening throughout Williamson County.

And I believe we're still watching the story unfold.

An Area That Continues to Grow

One of the things that excites me most about living in the Brushy Creek area is that we're positioned right in the middle of one of the fastest-growing parts of Central Texas.

Williamson County's estimated population reached more than 752,000 people in 2025, representing growth of roughly 24% since the 2020 Census base.

Nearby Round Rock has grown into a major economic center of its own. The area includes employers such as Dell, Amazon, Emerson, Baylor Scott & White, Ascension Seton Williamson and St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, with significant activity in technology, healthcare, professional services and advanced manufacturing.

And investment continues.

Major healthcare expansions alone illustrate what's happening. Baylor Scott & White has been completing a roughly $220 million expansion of its Round Rock facilities, while Ascension Seton Williamson has been developing a roughly $230 million expansion expected to add more than 400 positions.

For homeowners, buyers and business owners, this matters. Economic development isn't just about new buildings. It can mean new jobs, infrastructure, services, restaurants, businesses and opportunities that help create a thriving community.

Education Matters

For families considering a move, schools are often one of the first questions—and understandably so.

Depending on the exact neighborhood, homes around the broader Brushy Creek area can fall within different school boundaries, so buyers should always verify the specific schools serving an address.

One of the major districts serving the area is Round Rock ISD. For the 2025–26 school year, the district received an adjusted accountability score of 89/B, with nearly 78% of its campuses receiving an A or B. Brushy Creek Elementary itself received an A in the state's 2025–26 accountability results.

Parts of the broader Cedar Park/Brushy Creek area are also served by Leander ISD, which includes a number of A-rated campuses, including Cedar Park High School and Cedar Park Middle School.

As a real estate professional, I think it's important to go beyond simply saying an area has "good schools." Every family is different. The right conversation is about understanding your priorities and then looking carefully at the schools, programs, neighborhoods and opportunities available to your family.

One of My Favorite Things: Life Outside

Coming from Wyoming, I appreciate having access to the outdoors.

That's another reason Brushy Creek feels special to me.

The Brushy Creek Regional Trail currently stretches approximately 7.75 miles, connecting parks, residential communities, businesses and retail areas. Along the way you'll find opportunities for walking, jogging, biking, fishing, kayaking, swimming, picnics and simply enjoying Central Texas outside.

And the trail system is continuing to evolve. Williamson County has projects underway or in planning that would create additional trail connections, including links toward Southwest Regional Park, Cedar Park and other parts of the county.

Round Rock is also developing plans for The Lawn at Brushy Creek, a major park project near Downtown Round Rock designed to ultimately include trails, a pedestrian bridge, play areas, overlooks, boardwalks, an amphitheater, a possible kayak launch, a great lawn and other community amenities.

That's the kind of growth I love seeing—not simply more development, but investment in places where people can actually live, meet and enjoy their community.

Why I Chose to Call This Area Home

Moving from Wyoming to Texas was a major decision.

But what ultimately drew me to this part of Central Texas was the combination of opportunity and quality of life.

You can feel the energy of the Austin metropolitan area and the economic growth happening throughout Williamson County, while still finding neighborhoods where people know their neighbors, families spend time outdoors, kids play in the parks, and community still matters.

Brushy Creek gives you access to Round Rock, Cedar Park, North Austin and many of the employment and entertainment opportunities of the region—but it can still feel like a community of its own.

For me, that's a pretty special combination.

And because I made the move myself, I understand that relocating isn't simply a real estate transaction.

You're choosing where you're going to wake up every morning.

You're choosing where your children may grow up.

You're choosing your commute, your neighbors, your schools, your parks, your favorite restaurants and eventually the people who become part of your life.
