TechMate is a parent-led community that brings together chess and technology.
The name comes from Technology + Chess — hence, TechMate.

The goal of TechMate is to help kids connect beyond just their love for chess. Chess is the starting point, but the real magic happens when those connections turn into friendships—kids playing together at the park, running around on the soccer field, collaborating on ideas, and learning from one another in real life.

The idea for TechMate started at home. Like many parents, we noticed our kids were spending more and more time glued to screens, and finding the right peer group felt like a real challenge. We wanted a community where curious, thoughtful kids could meet others like them—while still encouraging balance, movement, and human connection.

TechMate events often blend strategy, creativity, and hands-on learning. At our most recent event, one of the dads introduced the kids to 3D printing software and design, giving them a fun, real-world introduction to technology beyond passive screen time.

To make connections comfortable and meaningful, kids are paired by age. When you join, we simply ask how old your child is so we can match them with peers at a similar stage.

TechMate is built by parents, for parents, and we’re just getting started. We’re actively looking to partner with other parents who want to help shape events, share skills, and move this community forward—together.
