When I started my business, my goal was simple: build it around my daughters lives not the other way around.
I wasn't chasing quick wins or trying to keep up with the latest trends. I was raising three girls, creating stability, and working with purpose. I wanted the freedom to be present for school drop-offs, gymnastics class, school concerts, soccer games, dinner conversations, and quiet moments in between.
Yes, my business took longer to build. And no, it didn't always feel balanced. But looking back now, I wouldn't change a thing.
Here is what 'Ive learned about building a values-based business with a family-first foundation:
1. Slower doesn't mean smaller.
Growth didn't happen overnight for me and that was intentional. While others were scaling fast, I was choosing presence. I was building something sustainable and soul-aligned.
Over time, that foundation allowed me to mentor, teach, coach, and serve from a place of real-life experience. My business grew in seasons, with depth and intention.
You're not falling behind by going at your own pace, you're building something that lasts.
2. Your life is your message.
At one point, I was teaching nutrition classes and occasionally had to bring my daughters with me. They'd pack up their schoolbooks, colouring books, and sit in the corner of the office while I led a room full of women. Now in their 20s, we laugh about those days and honestly, some of our fondest memories come from them.
Those moments taught me so much. About what matters. About resilience. About building something that reflects your real life.
Motherhood made me more intuitive, empathetic, and grounded. And that shaped how I coach today, especially the women who are trying to grow a business while still deeply rooted in caregiving, parenting, and purpose.
You don't have to hide your life behind your brand. Your life is your brand.
3. Seasons shift and so will your business.
There were seasons when I had space to go all-in and others when I had to slow down and put family first. A few years ago, I took a full break. I put my business on pause and worked a completely different job after the passing of my mom.
I needed time to grieve.
My mom was supermom, my hero, my role model. Because of her, I'm the mom I strive to be for my daughters. She taught me resilience, compassion, and the true meaning of unconditional love.
That season of pause was necessary. It created space to heal, reflect, and realign.
And in the past couple of years, I've felt a powerful shift. A renewed sense of faith, confidence, and energy, paired with a bold vision for the life, business, and legacy I'm creating now, not just for me, but for the women I mentor and the family I love.
What feels like a pause might actually be preparation. Trust the timing. Honour the season youre in.
Final Thoughts
If you're a coach or solopreneur building your business while raising a family, caring for others, or simply honouring your current season, you are not behind.
You are building something meaningful. Something that aligns with your values, your rhythm, and the people you love.
And that's not just enough it's powerful.
✨ Here's to the women building businesses with intention, devotion, and a whole lot of heart. You're doing it right.
