Being a mother to two incredible neurodivergent children, Arianna and David, has shaped not only my personal journey but also my mission in life. Every day, I navigate the joys and challenges of parenting with patience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to understanding their unique minds.
I advocate for their needs, create personalized strategies to support their growth, and embrace the beauty of seeing the world through their perspectives. My experience has given me firsthand insight into the struggles many families face—meltdowns, communication barriers, and the search for the right support systems.
This journey has fueled my passion for Supportive Minds, where I help other parents and individuals move beyond limiting labels and find strength in their differences. I believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and understood, and I strive to empower families with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
Motherhood isn’t about fitting into a mold—it’s about embracing the unique path of each child and guiding them toward their fullest potential.

I believe that every breakthrough begins with someone willing to believe the impossible is possible.
I'm Mary Stanley, an Army veteran, neurodiversity advocate, trauma-informed specialist, speaker, educator, and founder of Supportive Minds™ and Freedom Route Travel. My mission is simple: help people move from surviving to thriving by understanding the brain, regulating the nervous system, and creating practical pathways toward lasting change.
My journey didn't begin in a classroom—it began through lived experience.
As the mother of two neurodivergent children, I quickly realized that many families were being told what their children couldn't do instead of being shown what was possible. Rather than accepting limitations, I dedicated years to studying neuroscience, trauma, behavior, sensory processing, neuroplasticity, and nervous system regulation. That journey became the foundation of Supportive Minds.
Today, I work with families, educators, professionals, veterans, and organizations to better understand the connection between the brain, behavior, trauma, and healing. My approach focuses on education, practical strategies, and building environments where individuals can develop the skills needed to succeed.
As an Army veteran, I've experienced firsthand the effects of stress, trauma, resilience, and service. Those experiences continue to shape my work with veterans, first responders, caregivers, and families navigating complex challenges.
In addition to my advocacy work, I founded Freedom Route Travel because I believe travel can be more than a vacation—it can be an opportunity for connection, healing, confidence, and creating memories that last a lifetime. I specialize in helping families with special needs and veterans experience travel with greater confidence and less stress.
Throughout my career I've worked alongside families, schools, community organizations, policymakers, and professionals to improve understanding, reduce stigma, and develop practical solutions that create meaningful change. My current work also includes developing comprehensive models of care that support families from diagnosis through adulthood while promoting accountability, quality outcomes, and better coordination of services.
Whether I'm speaking on stage, hosting a podcast, consulting with organizations, or working one-on-one with families, my goal remains the same:
To replace fear with understanding.
To replace labels with possibility.
To help people discover strengths they never knew they had.
Because I believe every person deserves to be seen, understood, and given the opportunity to succeed.
